I don’t know about you, but I was excited to find out that my iPod video (fifth generation) could sync its calendar with Microsoft Outlook. At first iTunes seemed to achieve this successfully, but then it stopped working and it still doesn’t sync. I have seen many forums online where many people shared my frustration. But then I found a site that gives you a solution to the sync problem that Apple has been unable (or unwilling to solve). It will allow you to sync your iPod calendar with both Outlook and Yahoo!. (Presumably it works with Outlook 2007; give it a shot) That’s pretty damned sweet. It worked for my iPod, and my calendar looks exactly as it should. One downside is that you will have to perform this workaround sync regularly. At any rate, I think this is a great hack.

Yahoo / Outlook CSV to iCal Calendar Convertor (for iPod, iPhone, and iCal)

One caveat is warranted here. Presumably your CSV file ends up on his server, so if you’re nervous about his having your calendar, you should probably steer clear. Another caveat: as with any file you download to a computing device, it could mess up its system. You have been warned. But my iPod works fine, I assure you. I would be mad as hell and ranting about it, if it were not.

I’d love to hear comments on this–especially from the Outlook 2007 users….
