   And if you don’t think a Congressman ought to retire at 90, then why is there an age requirement at the low end? I can’t back it up with statistics, but I’m willing to bank on the fact that the percentage of mentally competent 21-year-olds is as high as the percentage of mentally competent as 90-year-olds. I’ll believe it until I’m proven wrong.

   There’s a reason why your fellow Congressmen are whispering behind closed doors about your capacity and then leaking that info.

   A seat in the Senate is no place to be “of counsel.” I would love to respect Byrd’s legacy if he let me.

   I say all this at risk of sounding like an age discriminator…at some point, it’s time.
